Study Destination Β· Singapore

Asia's most competitive universities. English only. Global employers on campus.

Singapore hosts two of the world's top 20 universities β€” the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) β€” both teaching entirely in English, both with active on-campus recruitment by the world's largest employers. For the highest-achieving Nigerian students in STEM, finance, or business, Singapore is the most credentialed destination outside the traditional Western options.

βœ“NUS ranked #8 globally (QS 2026) β€” ahead of most UK Russell Group universities.
βœ“English-only instruction across all programmes at NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD.
βœ“16hrs/wk work rights during term-time. Full-time during scheduled breaks.

Why Singapore

Three reasons to consider Singapore in 2026.

01 β€” Global Ranking Reality

NUS and NTU rank above most UK universities Nigerian families are targeting.

NUS is ranked #8 globally by QS. NTU is ranked #15. Both are above every UK university except Oxford (#3) and Cambridge (#2), and above all US universities except MIT (#1), Harvard (#4), and Stanford (#6). A Singapore degree is, by measurable metrics, the most credentialed option in Asia for Nigerian students.

02 β€” Employer Presence

Every major global employer recruits on Singapore campuses.

Consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), banking (Goldman, JPMorgan, UBS), technology (Google, Meta, Microsoft), and regional Asian employers actively recruit from NUS and NTU campuses. The employment outcome for graduates is among the strongest in the world.

03 β€” Entry Is Competitive

Not for every profile.

NUS and NTU are genuinely selective β€” admission is competitive and requires strong A-Level equivalents, a compelling application, and often a GMAT or relevant test. ZSR will assess your profile honestly before recommending Singapore as a target. We do not shortlist schools our students cannot realistically enter.

How competitive is admission to NUS and NTU for Nigerian students?+

Highly competitive. NUS and NTU admit students based on academic merit β€” strong A-Level equivalents (or WAEC + JAMB with very high scores), English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+), and in many cases supplementary materials. ZSR will assess your academic profile honestly before recommending Singapore as a target school.

How much does it cost to study in Singapore?+

A realistic first-year budget for an NUS/NTU undergraduate (with tuition grant subsidy) is SGD $38,000–$62,000, covering subsidised tuition (SGD $17,550–$32,550) plus living costs (SGD $18,000–$30,000).

What is the NUS Tuition Grant and do Nigerian students qualify?+

The Singapore government Tuition Grant subsidises tuition for international students who commit to working in Singapore for 3 years after graduation. Most international students, including Nigerians, qualify. The unsubsidised tuition rate is significantly higher.

Can I work while studying in Singapore?+

Yes β€” 16 hours per week during term-time, full-time during official school holidays. No additional work permit required.
